SCRREEN3 at IRTC25: From Raw Material Policies to Practice

The SCRREEN3 project has been presented by Luis Tercero in the frame of IRTC 2025: From Raw Material Policies to Practice event, which took place from 19 to 21 February 2025 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Throughout the three days conference, participants engaged in insightful discussions on pressing issues related to critical raw materials.

On the second day, during the IRTC Training directed to professionals in industry, research, and policymaking, attendees had the opportunity to learn directly from leading experts within the SCRREEN3 project. Alessandra Hool from the ESM Foundation, broke down the complexities of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act, offering valuable insights into its implications, while Luis A. Tercero Espinoza from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft led an interactive session, guiding participants through the process of calculating Supply Risk Scores for critical raw materials themselves.

Alessandra Hool and Luis A. Tercero Espinoza also moderated respectively a panel discussion “Industry, Policy and Civil Society – is there Common Ground on Resource Policies?” and keynote conversation “How are CRM Policies Making a Difference?”.

The International Round Table on Materials Criticality (IRTC), is a unique initiative that has been running since 2018, bringing together a global network of experts from academia, industry, and policymaking to explore the many facets of material criticality. It serves as a platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities related to critical raw materials, examining the impacts of criticality, and finding solutions to mitigate associated risks.

The SCRREEN network, by bringing its expertise to the table, continues to provide the insights needed to navigate the evolving landscape of critical raw materials and contribute to the development of more resilient and sustainable strategies for managing these essential resources.
